Menashe describes her early life on the island of Rhodes. She narrates her difficult journey to the United States in 1919, which took her through Italy and Chicago before she arrived in Seattle. She relates many aspects of her life in Seattle: the process of gaining U.S. citizenship, her charity work for Israel, being the first Sephardic Jew to join the Golden Age Club, and caring for her sick husband in the last years of his life.
